My Photo Session Process: From Booking To Gallery Delivery
The process of going from booking your session to getting your photos is easy. I know many of my clients lead a busy life and don’t have time for back and forth when it comes to photo sessions, that’s why I aim to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible.
Inquiry
After I receive your inquiry, I will send an email with some links to information about my sessions and pricing, and a link to my calendar to book your preferred time and date. After booking you will receive a contract, questionnaire, and an invoice to pay your deposit — 50% for family and newborn sessions, 35% for the maternity and newborn package. The deposit and contract is due upon booking to hold your date and time in my calendar. The questionairre can be filled out anytime before the session.
If you are booking a newborn and/or maternity session, the booking process is basically the same, however, if you have not had your baby yet, we will wait to choose the date/time based on when you deliver. I will ask for your due date in my questionnaire, so I know the approximate time your baby will be born.
The questionnaire gives me some insight into the personality of your family. I want you to speak freely when answering the questions because it will help me capture more than just your likeness in the photos…it will help me capture YOU.
If you tell me you have a shy child, and you also tell me some things they like…I can talk about that with them during the session and that usually helps them warm up to me. If your partner hates taking photos and is dreading the session, that’s good for me to know, and hopefully I can do something to make it more enjoyable for them. If your family is outdoorsy, tell me…that can help when deciding on a location. If you tell me you like to travel, that’s great…I will for sure chat you up about travel during our session! Before the session I will send you some helpful blog posts to help you prep. You are welcome to reach out to me at any time between booking and session day — I’m happy to answer any questions. Even if you need help deciding on outfits…send me pics and I can help!
Session Day
Family Shoot:
A few days before our session I will reach out with an email confirming date, time, and meeting spot. I will also give you my phone number so you can contact me the day of the photo shoot if needed. If weather looks like it can be an issue, this is when we will discuss options. I usually like to watch the weather and then make a final decision together the day before…and sometimes even the morning of the shoot, if you’re willing to play it by ear.
We will meet at the scheduled spot on session day. If it’s outdoors, plan to do a little bit of walking…I like to get some variety and will have a few different spots in mind to photograph you and your family. We might wing it too, and just wander around a bit!
Newborn Shoot:
Same goes for the email confirmation and phone number. But instead of meeting somewhere, I will come to your home at the scheduled time. I will take a look around and see what spots look best for natural light and we will shoot in 2-3 different rooms most likely.
You will receive an invoice for the remainder of your session the day of our photo shoot.
If anything comes up — illness, emergency, etc — please text me and we will figure it out.

After
Within 2 weeks of the session I will edit the photos and send your gallery link. You will be able to download all of the images in the gallery immediately, and have the option to purchase prints. Your gallery will stay active for one month, but just let me know if you need more time to order prints.
After downloading your images please please please SAVE them! Save them to an external hard drive, the cloud, or both. I hang on to images for awhile, but I am not responsible for your images if you lose them after six months.
I give complimentary albums with all of my sessions…they are beautiful linen covered albums with layflat pages. I design the entire thing, and it will arrive at your doorstep within one month of gallery delivery!
