Fine Art School Portraits
Parent Info
I am so excited for the opportunity to photograph your child! My goal is to provide an authentic and personal photography experience for each child at your school.
What are Fine Art School Portraits?
Fine Art School Portraits are a modern approach to school photos. It’s a boutique experience that aims to capture the true personality of your child. Instead of cheesy smiles, I capture natural expressions and authentic smiles.
Photos will be taken with a solid black background. The result is a clean, classic, and timeless portrait.
What to expect
I will never force a child to smile and will do my best to capture their unique personality by simply talking to them. This approach gets a more natural reaction and allows me to capture genuine smiles instead of fake ones.
I recommend that teachers and parents wait somewhere just out of the line of sight of the child, to allow me to capture them. Sometimes if there are too many people trying to get them to smile, it can lead to forced smiles and nervous kids. Of course, there may be younger kids that are super shy, and in those cases a parent or teacher is welcome to stay with them.
What to wear
Please avoid very bright or neon colors, as they can reflect off the skin and cause color casts.
Avoid logos, words, or graphics (they may be cut off in photos). Solid colors and nice prints or patterns are best.
Keep in mind, the background will be BLACK, so if your child is dressed in black their clothing may blend in (this can NOT be retouched to change background color in editing).
All shots are midsection up, legs and feet will not be shown.
Make sure clothing fits your child. Clothing that is too big may hang off their shoulders or look awkward. We are not responsible for hanging straps or clothing that doesn’t sit right.
Collars don’t always work well on babies and younger toddlers as they can creep up onto their faces and may not sit right.
For girls, please keep hair bows on the smaller side. The crop of the photo may be fairly tight, so if the bow is really big, you may risk having it cut off in the photo.
Siblings
Siblings can be photographed together and separately as long as the school allows it. We do not photograph kids that are not currently enrolled at the school.

Your gallery will be ready within 3 weeks of picture day. You will receive a QR code to access your child’s gallery. From there you will see approximately 3-8 photos of your child and can choose to order prints, digital media, or canvas. The process is secure and simple. Galleries will be up for 2 weeks. ALL ORDERS MUST BE PLACED IN THAT TIME PERIOD.
If you purchase the digital files, you will receive the download in your email immediately. If you order prints and/or canvas they will be shipped directly to your home.
